SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - Mask on to Get Your Craft On… the 2021 Spring Craft Show got underway at the Sioux City Convention Center this weekend.
Food, custom designs, jewelry, clothes and much more could all be found at the Spring 2021 Craft Show.
One vendor Jackie Remmick just recently got into the craft business.
"I just started this company when COVID hit. I couldn't keep working, daycare was too expensive. So, I decided to start my own little business. And so, I've been making stuff at my house and so it's nice to be able to show it to other people," said Jackie Remmick, Custom Designs by Jackie.
A new experience for a new business owner.
"I've never been to a craft fair so I thought it was really cool people that come to these. And for them to see my art, I've seen some people laugh at some of the funny signs I've made or they've complemented the tee-shirts I make. And that means a lot since I've never done a fair before. So, to see how other people like my work means a lot," said Remmick.
And while Remmick was experiencing the show for the first time, others were excited to see the craft show back in action once again.
"It's just fun. You know, do something fun. We've all been cooped up for a year and it's kind of fun to get out and try some new things and see some people you haven't seen in a long time," said Angie Shanks, Independent Distributor for To Market to Market.
Shopping hometown vendors.
"You're supporting the local people. It's not coming in from Chicago, not coming in from Mexico. It is made right here in Siouxland," said Audrey Brown, C. Brown Gardens.
Leaders with the show say COVID precautions were in place… masks were required and booths were spaced out.
"It's great to give the confidence back to everybody, that we can start getting somewhat closer back to normal. Get people out and about and get them interested in people's crafts," said Matthew Robinson, General Manager.
Remmick says it was nice to get feedback on her work.
"It shows how the community comes together to support locally owned businesses and I didn't realize how many people do this amazing work. So, I think it's really nice to come and support your local community," said Remmick.
