LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - The Panhandle was slammed with snow on Sunday. This contrasts much of central and eastern Nebraska, as they deal with rain.

Interstate 80 and Highway 30 are now closed for traffic from North Platte to the Wyoming border. Closures for westbound traffic on I-80 continue to move eastward as facilities reach capacity. Additional closures to the east are possible as the day progresses. Highway 71 has been added to the list of closed roads and the majority of the roads in the Panhandle are either completely or mostly covered.

The Nebraska Department of Transportation recommends individuals headed west of North Platte find a place to stay for the duration of the storm.

Several other major roadways in the Panhandle are also closed.

The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Warning along the Big Blue River affecting Butler, Seward, Saline and Gage Counties.
