CHICAGO — The city is now accepting applications for grants of up to $250,000 to help entrepreneurs on the South and West sides.
Applications for Neighborhood Opportunity Fund grants will be accepted through Nov. 6. The grants are available to entrepreneurs and non-profit groups that want to start or expand their work, according to the Mayor’s Office.
The grants can be used for construction, buying land, renovations and more, so long as the project will build up a commercial corridor on the South or West sides. Grants of up to $250,000 will be available.
To find out if your project is applicable and to apply, go to the fund’s website.
The city will host informational webinars to help applicants: one at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday in English and another at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Spanish.
The “Lens On Lightfoot” project is a collaboration of seven Chicago newsrooms examining the first year of Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s administration. Partners are the BGA, Block Club Chicago, Chalkbeat Chicago, The Chicago Reporter, The Daily Line, La Raza and The TRiiBE. It is managed by the Institute for Nonprofit News.
