Brew Ho! Ho! announces its Drive-In Flashback Craft Beer Christmas Party - OCRegister

With the majority of its beer festivals canceled in 2020 due to the continued spread of COVID-19, Orange County-based Brew Ha Ha Productions announced its annual Brew Ho! Ho! is still happening, though it’s been reimagined with social distancing, health and safety guidelines at the forefront.

“These are different times and this is a different Brew Ho! Ho!,” Brew Ha Ha Productions’ owner Cameron Collins said during a phone interview just after the event announcement. “What’s rad is we are bringing a way-bigger production to this, bigger than even what we had at Brew Ska Ska.”

The Brew Ho! Ho! will take place outdoors at Oak Canyon Park in Silverado on Saturday, Dec. 19 and be set up like a drive-in concert that will include performances by Twisted Gypsy (Fleetwood Mac tribute band) and Captured (Journey tribute act). The bands will play and tastings will take place in two sessions: 12-4 p.m. and 6-10 p.m.

There are a limited number of preferred parking spaces for $350 per vehicle that includes parking near the stage plus first tastes of beer served during the event. General admission is $250 per car and spaces are first-come, first-served. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased at BrewHoHo.com.

Though Gov. Gavin Newsom announced Monday that Orange County, along with several other surrounding counties, would move back into the most restrictive coronavirus purple tier, drive-in events like this and Anaheim’s Drive-In OC will continue as scheduled. If the event has to be canceled due to further restrictions, “we’ll refund,” Collins said.

The holiday-themed beers have been specially curated by Collins and the Brew Ha Ha staff and include an assortment of craft sours, stouts, IPA’s and more that will come in bottles and cans. Ticket price includes access for up to four drinking adults ages 21-and-older per vehicle plus one designated driver (also 21-and-older).

When patrons arrive, they’ll be given tasting cups and guided to their space in front of a massive stage and video wall where the bands will perform. Within the designated area will also be a picnic table. Upon arrival, there will be buckets of ice on each table with the hand-picked craft beers that guests will pour themselves into the tasting cups.

Since patrons won’t be able to walk up and talk to the brewers in-person, Collins said they’ll bring the brewers to the people via the large screens near the stage in between musical acts where they’ll be able to talk about some of the offerings.

There will be food trucks on-site from Mess Hall Canteen, Cousins Maine Lobster, TJ’s Woodfire Pizza and Fiesta Gourmet, Piaggio’s, Chef TLC’s Sidewalk Cafe and Cali’s Flaming Grill and plenty of social distancing markers for guests to follow.

Collins added that the on-site restrooms will be open, cleaned constantly and they’re providing additional hand washing and sanitizing stations. Congregating in groups outside of your vehicle space is strictly prohibited and can result in ejection from the event. Masks are required if patrons leave their designated space at any time.
