CHICAGO — The city is now accepting applications for its $10,000 Hospitality Grants for restaurants and bars.

Applications will be accepted until 11:59 p.m. Nov. 23. The grants are meant to help independent bar and restaurant owners who have suffered losses due to the coronavirus pandemic. Those interested can apply online.

Grants will be distributed by the end of the year, Mayor Lori Lightfoot previously said.

The grants will not be available for chains with more than two establishments. To be eligible, businesses must have an annual revenue of less tan $3 million and must have lost at least 25 percent of their annual net revenue after March 1 due to the COVID pandemic, according to the city.

The grants must be used for payroll, rent or mortgage, utilities or inventory.

The program is being funded with money from the federal CARES Act stimulus.

Lightfoot announced the grants last week along with a slew of other initiatives to help restaurants and bars during the pandemic.
