Shots fired outside Craft 302, liquor license suspended: City police - Poughkeepsie Journal

A Poughkeepsie restaurant's liquor license was suspended after gunshots were reported in its vicinity around 2 a.m. Saturday.

That's according to Capt. Richard Wilson, city police spokesman, who said the department is working with the State Liquor Authority as they conduct an investigation into Craft 302 Restaurant and Lounge.

"About 2:09 in the morning we respond to the area of Liberty Street lot for shots fired," Wilson said. "Responding units report that there were numerous patrons in the lot. The rear of 302 Main Street. No victims or evidence was initially discovered."

Five consecutive shots were fired about 20 seconds after 2:04 a.m., according to security video footage shared with the Journal. Ten seconds later, a gun can be heard firing twice.

Bullets were located in the lot later Saturday morning and placed into evidence, Wilson said. As of Monday afternoon, there are no reports of gunshot injuries or deaths.

The shooting marks at least the 27th shooting in the city this year, which were confirmed through shell casings, bullet holes or witness testimony. The previous shooting involved a 21-year-old man who was treated for a gunshot wound to the leg and a wound to the side. He was shot in the area of Muldowney Circle near 6 a.m. on Sept. 10.

Craft 302 Restaurant and Lounge is located in the City of Poughkeepsie at 302 Main St. The premise name, according to the state Liquor Authority's public license query lists for this address is M & O Partners Inc. The liquor license is identified as "inactive."

Ahead of the shooting, Wilson said the police department filed six different referral forms to the liquor authority. The first was submitted in August 2019.

"We notify (the liquor authority) of any incident that is either stemming from a direct police response to the location or the immediate are that may be involving patrons," Wilson said, explaining the referral form.
