Landis Theater hosts fall craft fair
VINELAND – Because of COVID-19 many craft events were cancelled this spring and summer, but the Landis Theater will offer craft lovers an opportunity to get back to shopping with a fall craft show from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 12 in the parking lot at 830 E. Landis Ave. The rain date is Sept. 13.
The event will feature dozens of handmade craft vendors, food trucks, entertainment, silent charity auctions, 50/50 raffles and more.
Masks will be required when social distancing is not possible.

Motorcycle racing returns to New Jersey Motorsports Park
MILLVILLE - New Jersey Motorsports Park will host three days of motorcycle racing action this weekend as it presents the MotoAmerica Championship of New Jersey. Gates will open at 8 a.m. Sept. 11 to 13.
In addition to qualifying runs on Friday and racing on Saturday and Sunday, the event will also include stunt shows, a Kids Zone with carnival games, food and more.
General admission is $70 for Friday through Sunday, $60 for Saturday and Sunday, $50 for Saturday or Sunday only, or $20 for qualifying rounds on Friday for ages 17 and older, if purchased in advance. Ticket prices will be higher at the gate. Attendees ages 16 and younger will be admitted free with paying adult.

Art ‘takes the stage’ at Washington Lake Park
WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP - Sustainable Washington Township’s Painting the Town exhibit, “The Gallery in the Park,” celebrates the 50th anniversary of the first Earth Day with the theme, “eARTh without ART is just eh.” The exhibit, which will be on display at the amphitheater in Washington Lake Park until October, features works by nearly 50 artists and photographers from throughout South Jersey.
This exhibit is supported in part by the South Jersey Cultural Alliance and OceanFirst Bank.

Register for the second annual Running The Ave 5K
VINELAND - Main Street Vineland, in cooperation with Second Capital Running, will host the second annual Running The Ave 5K, rain or shine at 9 a.m. Sept. 13, along Landis Avenue.
Vineland’s downtown business district, The Ave, will be transformed into a closed, 5K course, which will include a run through Landis Park. This sanctioned race will include professional timers and awards in a variety of categories. There will not be an awards ceremony. Awards will be mailed.
Because of COVID-19, the race will accommodate social distancing and public health requirements. The race will include a wave start, sending runners out in groups of five to 10 every 10 seconds; foot pump-operated self-serve water stations; and pre-packaged bags with water and snacks handed out at the finish line as runners are guided away from the race area.
Entry fee is $25. Proceeds will benefit Main Street Vineland’s efforts to revitalizate downtown Vineland. Newfield National Bank is the major sponsor.
Packet pickup will be available at 603 E. Landis Ave., from 3 to 6 p.m. Sept. 11, 9 a.m. to noon Sept. 12 and beginning at 8 a.m. Sept. 13. For participants who opted for packet delivery, they should arrive by Sept. 11.
Online registration will close on Sept. 10. In-person registration will be available at packet pickup times. Masks are required for packet pickups.

Historic Cold Spring Village hosts Military Timeline Weekend
CAPE MAY - Are you interested in the Civil War or World War II? Do you want to learn about the weaponry and tactics used in the American Revolution? Then check out Historic Cold Spring Village’s Military Timeline Weekend, which will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 12 and 13. This event will include encampments, weaponry displays and demonstrations from living history groups that depict various conflicts through the centuries.
The village also features the Nature Trail at Bradner’s Run, a Country Store, Cold Spring Brewery and Cold Spring Grange Restaurant.
Admission is $12 for adults, $10 for children ages 3 to 12 and free for children age 2 and younger.

Cape May Music Festival offers virtual concerts
Jed Gaylin, music director, Bay-Atlantic Symphony, and Eliot Bailen, artistic director, New York Chamber Ensemble, have partnered and will present four short performances for classical music lovers to enjoy virtually as part of the 2020 Cape May Music Festival Series.
The schedule features: “Bounce & Ballads,” 5:30 p.m. Sept. 17; “In the Moment,” 5:30 p.m. Sept. 22 and “Serenades & Dreams,” 5:30 p.m. Oct. 1.
The concerts are free, but donations are welcome.

Take a ‘STEAM’ Family Field Trip to Absecon Lighthouse
ATLANTIC CITY - Absecon Lighthouse will host Family Field Trips designed to educate using STEAM. This event will also include a climb of the lighthouse’s 228 steps and a scavenger hunt. The field trips will be offered at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays through Nov. 23.
Participants will learn about the lighthouse’s history plus learn the answers to questions such as:
- What makes the light reach 19.5 nautical miles out to sea?
- What is holding the 12,800 pound lens up at the top?
- Why does a lighthouse sway in the wind?
Cost is $10 for adults and $6 for children.
The lighthouse is at Pacific and Rhode Island avenues.

Enjoy a bird walk with Atlantic Audubon Society
GALLOWAY - Atlantic Audubon Society will offer free bird walks at the Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge. Walks will depart from the visitor center at 8 a.m. Sept. 12, 19 and 26 and Oct. 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31.
All levels of birders are welcome. Participants should bring water plus sun and tick protection.
The refuge is at 800 Great Creek Road in Oceanville.
