November Wine Walk, bike tour, craft fair and more highlight weekend events around Carson City - Carson Now

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of events around the Carson City region. The November Gobble Wine Walk kicks off in downtown Carson City followed by a new “Paths and Pedals” bike tour. Sierra Lutheran High School is also hosting a Christmas craft fair on Saturday. Combined with live music and virtual events, there’s plenty of activity happening in the state capital! Read on for more information.

New safety guidelines for the state of Nevada have been enforced, so please make sure to wear a mask and practice safe social distancing.

Friday, November 6
Statewide partnership seeks entrepreneurs, startups for rural Nevada virtual pitch competition. 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The rural Nevada Virtual Pitch Competition will be held on Nov. 6 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. with remote connections through Nevada’s smaller cities and towns. The pitch competition will include educational resources and learning sessions to assist and elevate innovation and entrepreneurship efforts of Rural Nevadans. Winning pitches will be awarded cash prizes up to $1,000 thanks to a sponsorship from NV Energy.

Nevada Artists Association Autumn Show. 12 to 4 p.m. at 449 W. King St. The Nevada Artist Association is proud to present the 2020 “Autumn Show” and the beautiful works of Featured Artists Karen Kreyeski and Maggie Stillwell. All the work in these shows is from Nevada Artist Association members. These shows are open to the public through Oct. 23rd. NAA is the largest Fine Arts Gallery in the Carson-Tahoe area featuring work from over 140 Northern Nevada artists, including paintings, photographs, sculptures, gourds, jewelry, textile art, glass, pottery, prints, cards and more.

Dance Class at Yaple's Ballroom Dance Studio. 3 to 4 p.m. at 315 N. Carson St. Join us for some dancing! No partner needed. Learn dance steps to all Ballroom and Latin dances. A Mix of mini dance routines and line dances. Improve turns and balance.

Virtual Hour of Code. 4 p.m. hosted by the Carson City Library. This event is for ages 10-17, join us virtually via Zoom. Registration is required at the following link above.

Open Mic Night at A to Zen Gift Shop. 6 p.m. at 1803 N. Carson St. Open Mic is back at A to Zen tonight! Come and support local musicians from all over and enjoy a night of music.

Bella Vita Bistro at the Carson Mall. 6:30 p.m. at 1313 S. Carson St. It will be a dance party you don’t want to miss! Have some fun and enjoy the weekend on a Friday night. Make sure to practice state measures.

Red Light Painting at HelloHandmade. 6:30 p.m. at 1754 Ironwood Drive in Minden. We will paint this Grateful Pumpkin design under red light making all the colors look grey. When the lights come on we will all have a fun surprise and everyone’s painting will turn out a little different! You are welcome to bring snacks and drinks (including wine). This event is kid friendly. Recommended for ages 7+

Friday Night Funnies at the Brewery Arts Center. 7 to 9 p.m. at 449 W. King St. It's been a while. We are going to attempt a socially distanced improv show at the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall. Come laugh with us as we make up whatever along the lines of the show "Whose Line Is It Anyway." Audience participation is encouraged!

Friday Night Karaoke at the Whiskey Tavern. 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. at 3481 Hwy 50 E. in Carson City. Come hang out with the Whiskey Tavern and J and M Productions as we sing the night away every Friday! Must be at least 21 years old.

Saturday, November 7
Pull for Kids Shoot Out. 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Capitol City Gun Club, 3590 Arrowhead Drive in Carson City. Join us for our annual Pull for Kids Shoot Out on Saturday. All proceeds go towards the Reno/Sparks Young Life programming and specifically benefitting our new area of impact for teen mothers and their children.

Sierra Lutheran High School to host Christmas craft fair. 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 3601 Romans Rd. Sierra Lutheran High School will host the 3rd Annual Christ is Christmas Craft Fair Saturday, Nov. 7, on the SLHS campus from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The school will be strategically using outdoor and indoor space on its 34-acre campus to promote the kickoff to the Christmas shopping season within social distancing guidelines.

Explore Carson City's newest trail by bike at 'Paths and Pedals' tour. 10 a.m. Meet at the 5th Street trailhead on the corner of 5th Street and Carson River Road. Do you enjoy riding your bike? Would you like to explore Carson City’s new trail? If so, join us for a bike ride through the beautiful fall colors on Saturday, Nov. 7 at 10 a.m. on the new Carson River/Prison Hill trail! We will meet at the 5th Street Trailhead on the corner of 5th Street and Carson River Road! Don’t forget to bring your bike and wear a mask! Spots are limited, so be sure to sign up as soon as possible.

Pie Baking Contest at the Carson Valley Museum and Cultural Center. 11 a.m. at at 1477 U.S. Hwy 395 N. in Gardnerville. Old time Pie Baking Contest at High Noon. Come and try Apple, Pumpkin, Pecan, and other Fall Pies! Show off your culinary skills at the Douglas County Historical Society’s Pie Baking Contest. This is a fundraiser benefiting the historical society. Judging starts at 11 a.m.

Learn to Homebrew at Just Brew It. 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 1214 N. Carson St. Join us on November 7th for a free homebrew demo. Learn the basics of how to make some delicious brew in a short demo.

November Gobble Wine Walk. 1 p.m. at downtown Carson City. The Carson City Wine Walk is back and it’s a November edition! Gather all your friends and family (with safety and masks) for a fun afternoon of wine and other delectable items.

Fundraiser Tournament at Carson Lanes Family Fun Center. 1 p.m. at 4600 Snyder Ave. Join us for our Annual BVL Tournament. Entry forms can be found at any of the local bowling alleys as well as online.

Live Music Collection at Shoe Tree Brewing Company. 1 to 4 p.m. at 1496 Old Hot Springs Road in Carson City. Join us for a Spoil the Hash trail! Led by Cut Her Clams, Six in her Cabin, and Dirty Pillow Pile Driver! The trail will start and end at Shoe Tree Brewery in Carson City. Bring your vessel, as this is a Spoil the Hash trail!

Music in the Sunshine at Comma Coffee. 1 to 5 p.m. at 312 S. Carson St. Come on down for some socially distanced live music! I’ll be playing on the outdoor courtyard stage at Comma Coffee this Saturday afternoon during the Carson City Wine Walk.

Autumn Melodies at A to Zen. 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. at 1803 N. Carson St. We will be hosting our first non-virtual show this Saturday at A to Zen Gift Shop. Come support local musicians and local business, a small cover charge of $5 at the door.

Live Music at Living the Good Life. 6:30 to 11:30 p.m. at 1480 N. Carson St. Come enjoy an evening of dinner & music this Saturday, indoors, at Living The Good Life. Reservations required for seating. (775) 841-4663.

Sunday, November 8
Carson City's Bank Saloon seeks artist to turn transformer box into aesthetic canvas (all day). The Nevada Builders Alliance, owner of the Bank Saloon, has requested assistance by the Brewery Arts Center to solicit proposals from local artists to beautify the electric transformer box located at their property on the corner of Carson and 5th streets. The owners of the property are looking for designs that will go with the established aesthetic of both inside and outside of the bank saloon.

Carson City Library Hosts National Novel Writing Month (all day). Do you aspire to be a writer? Do you have a writing project that you keep postponing? Do you want to compete in a challenge this November? Be a part of the worldwide pledge to write 50,000 words during the month of November!

Raiders Chapter Game Watch at Jimmy G's Cigar Bar. 1 p.m. at 301 N. Carson St. Huge win last week and we need to keep it up Nevada Raider Nation. Come down to Jimmy Gs this Sunday afternoon and let’s keep the love going for our boys against the much different this year Chargers.
