The Craft: Legacy spoilers follow.
It remains to be seen if The Craft: Legacy will ever have the cult following that the first film did, but one great moment for fans was seeing one of the original characters crop up in the new movie.
Fairuza Balk, who played Nancy in The Craft, in a really cool twist turns out to be the mother of the lead character Lily (Cailee Spaeny) and the pair briefly reunite at the end.
Balk was initially wary of signing up to the sequel until she met with director Zoe Lister-Jones, who pitched the film as one that would promote women supporting women.
The actress told Entertainment Weekly that "her idea was that she wanted to do a take on the same kind of idea [as the original film] but for a modern generation and one that reinforces women supporting women as opposed to women fighting women".
She continued: "But the reason that I got involved was because her motivation was a really positive one.
"There are so many movies that are reinforcing women fighting women and the bitchiness. We've had so much of that; we know that already."
Balk admitted that she finds it "wonderful" that people really liked Nancy and it made her realise she did a really great job with the character.
"Evidently, people really, really love that character, and that's been a nice thing to find out.
"When you're an actor, you go, you do your work, and then you move on, and when you find out years later that the art that you made did its job, reached people, it's a wonderful feeling. Lets you know that you're doing it right."

Director Lister-Jones has hinted at the possibility of a sequel, but Balk isn't sure if she would appear again and admits "it would depend on the story".
She explained: "My whole reason for being involved was Zoe's pitch. She's very, very smart. She was coming from a very positive space in what she was trying to achieve, and that's why I was involved in this one.
"But it would depend on what they write and what they come up with, I suppose. It's not like, 'Oh, yes, give me the chance to be this angry again!' [Laughs] It takes a lot of energy, being psychotic."
The Craft: Legacy is out now in the UK and US.
