WAIPOULI — The Sheraton Kaua‘i Coconut Beach Resort will host a farmers market and craft fair on Friday afternoon on its property located near the CVS Long’s Drugs in Waipouli.
This is the first gathering of craft vendors and farmers to take place at the Sheraton Kaua‘i Coconut Beach Resort following the start of the COVID19 pandemic that shut down the island last year.
“We’re still here,” said Barbara Gusman of the resort’s sales department. “We still have the Hawai‘i National Guard staying here. This market is our community outreach in light of the recent closure of the nearby supermarket, and the renovations the hotel accomplished during the pandemic.”
Both events will adhere to COVID-19 health and safety guidelines that include the wearing of face masks and social distancing.
The farmers market will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. in the resort’s parking lot.
Shoppers can extend their shopping experience by visiting the craft fair that will run from 4 to 7:30 p.m. in the Moamoa Hawaiian Fish House and the Daybreak Restaurant areas.
These two sites are the result of renovation taking place during the pandemic, and craft fair shoppers can get a feel for the resort’s newest dining areas. Previously, the areas were used to stage the food distributions for the resort’s employees.
Both the Moamoa Hawaiian Fish House and the Daybreak Restaurant are currently not available, the resort’s website states.
Other dining options at the Sheraton Kaua‘i Coconut Beach Resort include The Crooked Surf, the First Light Coffee &Juice Bar, and the Luau Makaiwa.
