The craft show will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, in the Old White Drug location inside the Prairie Hills Mall. To allow for a safe event, masks will be mandated for vendors and customers, and the booths will be spaced about 9 feet apart from one another, event coordinator Julie Alexander said.
Between Boot Barn and the east side entrance, people will be able to enter and exit with safety in mind.
“As a safety precaution, we’re only having one entrance and one exit so we can rotate (people) out,” Alexander said, noting that she will be at the door to ensure that each attendee is wearing a mask and counting the number of people who enter.
For this year, there’s going to be more out-of-town vendors selling items such as smokehouse to-go meals, baked goods, farmhouse rustic signs and decor, leather goods, purses, boutiques and custom-made merchandise from coffee mugs to T-shirts. Alexander said she tries to limit the home-based businesses to 12, and the rest of the vendors are store-front businesses to homemade clothing and decor.
Alexander has been involved with the show since it was formed and each year the event has been a big hit with the community with usually 600 to 750 people coming out to shop locally. For those who haven’t check out the annual holiday show, Alexander encourages people to support local businesses.
“Shop locally. These are all local — vendors, local people and business, home-based businesses, handmade crafts — and it’s all local so support locally rather than traveling outside of the community,” she added. “Businesses are struggling because of the COVID.”
Although the pandemic has affected many events in the area, Alexander is anticipating people will want to get out of the house and begin their holiday shopping.
“This year is going to be a different year because of the COVID, but I think people are anxious and wanting to get into the holiday spirit and so, they’re wanting this craft show,” she said. “... It’s an unexpected year but ... because there have been so many vendor shows and craft shows that have been canceled, my hope is that we have a successful turnout.”
