CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The Clarksville-Montgomery County School System has announced that virtual schooling will continue to be an option for students in the district during the 2021-22 school year.
In an email to virtual student families Friday night, CMCSS said more information about open enrollment for virtual schooling next school year will be released in the coming week. The open enrollment period will begin Jan. 15 and end Fed. 15.
“Next school year, CMCSS plans to return to the traditional educational model. However, CMCSS K-12 Virtual will still be available as a school of choice for our CMCSS students,” said Erin D. Hendrick, CMCSS’s K-12 Virtual coordinator, in the email.
“Fortunately, we were able to jumpstart our virtual school this year in the midst of the global pandemic. Based on what we have learned this year, we continue to refine our expectations and next steps to make this a successful option for our students,” Hendrick continued.
Anthony Johnson, Chief Communications Officer for CMCSS, told Clarksville Now that it was always the intention of the school district to begin offering a virtual option to all students. He said the conditions of the pandemic had just expedited those plans.
“In what we all hope are more normal conditions next school year, we look forward to providing a refined CMCSS K-12 Virtual in our portfolio of high-quality academic offerings for families,” Johnson said.
The announcement also said participation in K-12 Virtual learning this school year does not automatically enroll your student for next year, and CMCSS families will have to reapply during the open enrollment period.
CMCSS will host Zoom informational meetings for parents to learn more about CMCSS K-12 Virtual for the next school year and the open enrollment application process. Those dates and times are listed below.
