Vermonters 30+ now eligible for COVID vaccinations - WCAX

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) - Another age group became eligible for the coronavirus vaccine in Vermont on Monday.

Vermonters who are 30 years of age or older will be able to register for their shot at 8:15 a.m.

The governor said Monday morning that 11,000 people in that age group had already signed up.

It’s recommended that you try both the state health department website, as well as individual pharmacies and stores like CVS, Walgreens, Kinney, Costco, Hannaford and Shaw’s. You can also call 855-722-7878.

Starting Monday, Rite Aid and Price Chopper will begin offering shots as well.

The next and final age band will be eligible next week, which will be for those 16 years old and up.

The presence of the virus in Vermont has been increasing in recent weeks. Officials say the state is in a race to vaccinate as many people as possible to help stop the spread.

So who exactly is eligible right now in our region?

In Vermont, the following people are eligible for the vaccine: residents who are 30 and up; members of the Black, Indigenous and people of color (BIPOC) community who are 16 and up; people 16 and older with chronic health conditions; parents of children with high-risk conditions; residents and staff members at nursing homes, school and child care workers; and health care workers with direct patient contact.

In New York, everyone 16 and older is now eligible for the vaccine. They’re available at pharmacies, hospitals, health departments and other state-run sites.

In New Hampshire, anyone 16 and older is eligible. Those age brackets opened up completely on April 2. And starting next week, New Hampshire will open up the vaccine to out-of-staters, as well.
