Parma Community Craft Sale returns Sept 16-18 - cleveland.com

PARMA, Ohio -- After successfully creating and hosting a Community Craft Sale during the pandemic, Parma is once again hosting the DIY -- drive it yourself -- affair.

The Community Craft Sale takes place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 16-18 throughout the city.

“It was a huge success, so we decided to bring it back for the second annual event this year,” Ward 4 Parma City Councilwoman Kristin Saban said. “Essentially, they’re not renting a table or space or bringing their crafts to a craft fair.

“Instead, we’re bringing the shoppers to each of their homes throughout the city.”

Parma Ward 2 City Councilwoman Deborah A. Lime added: “The city craft fair was and is a great way for the crafters of the community to sell their products. In these uncertain times, it continues to allow them to keep their business going.”

The Community Craft Sale is modeled after Parma’s Community Garage Sale, which also was started in 2020.

Participation in the Community Craft Sale costs $5. The deadline to register is Thursday (Sept. 9).

In return, homeowners will receive a garage sale permit to sell their crafts and visible street markings through the mail. For more information, email or call Karen Jones at 440-885-8094.

“Last year, we had right around 100 homes,” Saban said. “Considering we had more than 200 homes in the recent Community Garage Sale, I’m hoping to have a good showing. There’s been a lot of buzz on social media over the last month when we started promoting it.”

The city plans to promote the event via email and social media posts by providing maps of sale locations to shoppers.

“With the Community Craft Fair Facebook page, each vendor can promote what they’re selling at their individual fair,” Saban said. “That way, we can put it out to the public and guide them in the direction of where to go.”

Last year’s craft fair boasted everything from homemade quilts, soaps and lotions to holiday décor.

“Having it in the middle of September, that’s when individuals are looking for unique gift ideas going into the holiday season,” Saban said.
