Virtual Crafternoons: Free Library craft programs for kids and teens - mysouthborough

The Southborough Library retooled its Crafternoon series during the pandemic. Consider it version 2.0.

The craft series for kids and teens is normally led at the Library by crafter Mandy Roberge of Wicked Good Henna.

Instead of bringing Roberge to work hands on with participants, the programs are led remotely thanks to the post office and zoom.

Patrons can sign up to be one of the participants in a Crafternoon session. Registration is handled through through Southborough Recreation’s website. Each program is free but limited to 1 participant per household.

Materials are then mailed to participants who are also sent login information for the zoom session.

The programs are still limited to 15 participants, allowing Roberge to interact with each participant.

Two craft sessions geared for ages 8-18 are available for registration through Recreation’s website. The details are below.

Dreamcatchers
Wednesday, July 22 from 4:00 – 5:00 pm

Create a unique piece of wall art using antique doilies, beads, fathers, lace, ribbon and more! This workshop involves a little bit of sewing and lots of hot glue — best suited to older kids or teens.

Wednesday, August 19 from 4:00 – 5:00 pm

Create a one-of-a-kind wooden mandala ornament to hang in your car or window by using a dot-painting technique!
