PRESQUE ISLE, Maine (WAGM) -A county crafter was determined to continue the tradition of a Fall craft fair because most were cancelled due to COVID 19. Newssource 8′s Anna Soderberg has the details.
“When we were looking for a space to hold an outdoor craft fair, it just kind of made sense for us to open our home for the community” says Casey Blackstone.
Casey Blackstone is a mom and a business owner. She is the creator of Naptime Knots and when she discovered that there was no craft fair this season to sell her products because of COVID 19, she decided to do something about it.
“So as a crafter, I was very upset that the Caribou craft fair was going to be cancelled this year. So, I made a split decision to offer up our farm and the space to be able to hold an outdoor craft festival for other vendors like me" says Blackstone.
Blackstone has collected 30 vendors from around Aroostook County to sell their products safely. One of the Vendors is Lindsey Theriault who recently started Hodge Podge Crafts. The Blackstone Farm Fall Craft Festival will be her first time selling her products in person.
“So, this is my first time ever selling at a craft fair. I don’t even have a Facebook page set up yet, but Casey had posted on Facebook about doing the craft fair and I thought this was a great way to get my name out there and for something that is a tradition of the community to experience" says Lindsey Theriault.
Theriault adds she is pleased to have an outdoor space to remain safe while continuing on the Fall season tradition.
“When they started cancelling this year because of the pandemic it was disheartening and just this is a little bit of something that is going to feel familiar for everyone in the community while still remaining safe.”
The festival will take place on Saturday October 10th at 147 S Caribou Rd. in Fort Fairfield, from 10 AM to 3 PM.
