Grapevine launches new ‘craft beverage tour’ featuring local whiskey, soda, coffee and, of course, wine - The Dallas Morning News

Beginning this weekend, Grapevine, a city long known for its collection of wineries and vino-related attractions, will assist willing imbibers in finding out there’s more to drink there than simply wine.

The Grapevine Craft Beverage Tour will offer adventurous drinkers the chance to sip an array of locally produced beverages, including craft beer, craft soda, cider, coffee, handcrafted Texas whiskies, and of course, some wine of the regional variety. According to a press release, “starting Sunday, Nov. 1., complimentary Grapevine Craft Beverage Tour Passports can be picked up inside the Grapevine Visitor Information Center and all participating locations.”

The program works by having each participant collect stickers for their passport after purchasing a beverage from one of the winery tasting rooms, breweries, coffee shops or the distillery involved. After a minimum of nine stickers have been collected from separate participating spots, a passport can be redeemed for an exclusive Grapevine Craft Beverage Tour T-shirt.

According to the city’s official website, Grapevine’s name was inspired by “the wild Mustang grapes that blanketed the land when settlers first arrived to the area in 1844.” Given such a fruitful history, it stands to reason that Grapevine has been active in selling itself as a drinker’s destination for decades now. Its signature event, the annual Grapefest celebration, has run for over 30 years and has become one of the largest wine festivals in the southwestern United States. It didn’t take place this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Participating establishments include Cross Timbers Winery, Messina Hof Grapevine Winery, Hop and Sting Brewing Company, Outlaw Cider Company, Buon Giorno Coffee, Napoli’s Italian Market, Rocket Fizz and TahWahKaro Distilling Company.
