A new deleted scene from The Craft: Legacy movie has surfaced, and it shows the witches learning a new spell. The Craft: Legacy is a supernatural horror film written and directed by Zoe Lister-Jones. Produced by Blumhouse Productions, the movie serves as a soft sequel and reboot to the 1996 film, The Craft which starred Robin Tunney, Fairuza Balk, Neve Campbell, and Rachel True in the lead roles. The new movie features Cailee Spaeny, Gideon Adlon, Lovie Simone, and Zoey Luna, and Balk from the original film also makes a cameo appearance. The Craft: Legacy was released through video on demand and in select theaters this October, and Lister-Jones has since announced her plans to make a third movie.
The Craft: Legacy centers on Spaeny's Lily, an outcast teenager who transfers to a new high school. At her new institution, Lily manifests telekinetic powers after a boy named Timmy bullies her. While Lily's abilities leave everyone stunned, three of her classmates - Frankie (Adlon), Tabby (Simone), and Lourdes (Luna) - who practice witchcraft, realize Lily's potential and invite her to join their coven. But Lily's powers soon turn out to be stronger than what her friends had expected, and this causes the coven to disband. Initially, it appears that The Craft: Legacy is only loosely connected to the original movie. But during the film's final scene, the two stories merge together, leaving the door open for a third installment.
Recently, ComingSoon.net shared a deleted clip from The Craft: Legacy movie. The scene finds the witches learning a new spell that manifests an aura around a human. In the words of Luna's Lourdes, an aura is kind of an energy field that appears around a human's physical form. So when Lourdes demonstrates the new spell before Lily, it summons her aura, which is basically a cloud of radiant, fluorescent smoke around her head. The deleted scene is included in The Craft: Legacy's Blu-ray and DVD version, which also features four alternate scenes along with two short videos detailing the making of the movie.

The emergence of a deleted scene from The Craft: Legacy is not surprising considering that Lister-Jones has previously confirmed that a lot of footage from her movie ended up on the cutting floor. According to Lister-Jones The Craft: Legacy was several minutes longer, but she had to bite off a lot from the movie in order to streamline it into the 90 minutes bracket. The film otherwise included Lourdes' grandmother, who is a bruja, in a greater role, and it also shed light on Frankie's ancestors in Salem. Zoe-Lister Jones is, however, hopeful about exploring the punched-out parts in the future. And given that a third film is already in the can, chances are high that audiences will get to witness the crude pieces soon.
It is an established fact that despite its entertaining mashup of tropes, The Craft: Legacy failed to impress critics and longtime Craft fans. But now that deleted scenes from the movie are surfacing, the reasons behind The Craft: Legacy's lackluster performance have become quite obvious. Clearly, the movie had a bag full of cool new tricks and rich backstories. But they were traded out in favor of the soapy plotline and family drama. Hopefully, the filmmakers will learn from their mistakes after this movie, and the third Craft movie will be more insightful than the second one.
