Girl Scout Troop 5615 will present 350 craft kits to patients age 18 and under at Torrance Memorial Hospital and Little Company of Mary, beginning Oct. 20. The group of sixth-grade girls at Parras Middle School earned their Bronze Award for the project, which they worked on for two years.
Leader Jessica Rendes reports that each member has spent more than 20 hours collecting games, crafts and toys for the kits, which also include coloring books, journals and more. Some items are homemade, such as Tic-Tac-Toe games built from Altoid containers.
Each kit includes a handwritten card. Funding came from donations and Girl Scout cookie money.
The 12-member troop has been together since kindergarten. ER
