WILLIAMSTOWN — The Williamstown High School band hosted its annual craft fair fundraiser Saturday.

Community members, including some student,s set up booths inside the school gymnasium with many handcrafted goods and Williamstown-themed merchandise.

“The craft fair was a great success, and we were so excited to have it after having to cancel due to COVID last year,” said Jenny Gilbert, a band mom and band boosters member. “We had a great vendor turnout and a steady crowd all day.”

According to Gilbert, the money raised will go toward instruments, uniforms, music, camp and anything else the band needs.

“We had several compliments on how the band students were so polite and helpful with helping the vendors bring in their stuff to set up and helping take it back out to their cars when the fair was over, bringing them their lunch and checking to make sure they didn’t need anything throughout the day,” she said.

A common theme throughout the craft fair was products that people learned how to make from seeing similar products over social media.

“TikTok made me do it,” said Clare Walker, 17, a senior at Williamstown High School.

Walker said she and her mother were inspired by seeing people do crafts online and went together to buy a 3-D printer.

“This is our first craft fair, but I do sell merchandise on Etsy,” Walker said.

Walker explained that 3-D printing is like drawing, but with a hot glue gun and an “Etch A Sketch.”

Aside from the merchandise, the fair included concessions and a raffle with prizes donated by the vendors.

Gilbert said thanked the vendors and everyone who came to the craft fair for their support.

“I would also like to thank the parents who worked in the concession stand and the kids for doing such an awesome job. I am very proud to be a band mom,” she said.
