Matt Andrews, Parks and Recreation trail coordinator for the City of Duluth, said, “the trail is accessible up here at Enger Tower or Third Street or First Street or all the way down at the bottom near Superior Street, so lots of opportunity for people to connect to the trail to get out and enjoy the wonderful views and some awesome scenery.”
It’s an intermediate trail about a half mile in length. The complete project joins the Duluth Traverse Trail, which is a collaborative effort between the City of Duluth and COGGS.
"It's super helpful that we've got a non-profit group like Cyclists of Gitchee Gumee Shores to fund something like this and keep it moving along without being a demand on city resources," Andrews said.
All said and done, the Duluth Traverse will include 104 miles of multipurpose single-track trail. The Craft Connector is the first addition officially open for the 2020 season, but there’s much more to come.
"Next up we have a section in UMD through the Bagley area that's also brand new Duluth Traverse trail opening up, and then we've got a couple of contracts going out to bid that will add additional segments and additional mileage in the city which are expected to be built yet this year," Andrews said.
