Rochester library offering craft kits to go - Foster's Daily Democrat

ROCHESTER – Browsing by Appointment has been very successful, as is our RPL-To-Go Pick-Up Service. The Children’s Room is starting up its Take and Make Crafts program. Check out how you can stop by and pick up a fun craft to do with your kids!

Returning Items

Please return books and magazines to the drive-up book drop. DVDs, CDs and audio-books go in the drop next to the Children's Room entrance. Returned items will stay on your account for 3-plus days as they are quarantined, cleaned and then checked in. Fines will begin accruing again starting Sept. 8.

Browsing at the library

Browsing is back at the Rochester Public Library. Call 603-332-1428 ext. 2 to schedule a time to come in for a 45-minute appointment. You will be asked if you are making an appointment as an individual or a family, so we have an idea of how many people will be in the building at a time.

The library’s popular RPL To-Go service will continue as before, as will appointments for the library’s computers, photocopiers access to the library’s wireless internet, and tech support sessions with the library’s Emerging Technologies Specialist.

RPL-To-Go

Many of our patrons love the convenience of our RPL-To-Go service. You can place items on hold in the catalog or call or email us with your book, DVD, audiobook, music CD or magazine requests. A staff member will gather the items for you, and give you a call and set up an appointment for pick-up.

Be sure to request all (adult and children's) items by calling 603-332-1428 ext 2 and leaving a message or by sending us an email at rochesterlibrary.togo@gmail.com. We will do our best to fill your requests.

Computer appointments

If you are in need of a computer, printer, photocopier or require WiFi access, call the library to make a 45-minute appointment for these services. Please make sure to bring exact change to use the photocopier or printer. Photocopies cost $.15 each and printouts are $.10 per copy. Appointments are available Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.. Wednesdays 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Call us to make a reservation 603-332-1428 ext 2

Tech help

Do you need assistance with a new phone, or laptop or trying to use Overdrive or one of our other downloadable resources? Call us and make an appointment with our Emerging Technologies Specialist. She can help you solve your tech troubles. To make a one hour appointment with her on Mondays from 2 to 4 p.m. and Fridays 10 a.m. to noon, call 603-332-1428.

Adult Summer Reading Program

We hope you all enjoyed the titles our staff recommended over the course of the Summer Reading Program. Each of you who participated will have your email entered for the Grand Prize, an Amazon Fire Tablet. The winner will be chosen randomly on Monday, Aug. 17.

Children’s Room

Our first Take It & Make It program for the Children’s Room is happening on Monday, Aug. 17. Pick up a kit to make a paper plate dinosaur on Monday between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. If the weather is nice, the kits will be on a cart outside the Children’s Room entryway. If it is raining, they will be inside the entryway, but please remember to socially distance appropriately when grabbing your kit. (One kit per child please.)

Children’s Room Browsing: The library is open to browsing by appointment and we welcome families to come in. Our New Books shelf is full to capacity with fiction, non-fiction, picture books, easy readers, and graphic novels. We can provide a safe environment with hand sanitizer, masks, if you need one, and enough room for social distancing. Please call 603-332-1428 ext. 2 to schedule your family’s visit, or if you have any questions.

Safety precautions

Please remember we are committed to keeping our staff and patrons safe. Masks are strongly recommended and must be worn if you need the one-on-one assistance of a staff member. If you don’t have a mask, we do have some available as well as hand sanitizer.

WIFI Info

Remember our WiFi is on 24/7 and accessible from outside the building (from a safe distance, of course).
