Following the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s endorsement of COVID-19 booster shots for all fully vaccinated adults, state health officials say Montanans wanting a booster should have no trouble finding one.
Annie Rechlin manages the Montana health department’s immunization program and says there are plenty of vaccines available.
"They’re available through local pharmacies, health departments, local clinics; there’s more than enough supply nationally and in the state of Montana."
Rechlin says that applies to primary and booster doses alike
Anyone over the age of 18 is eligible for a COVID booster six months after receiving their last dose of Pfizer or Moderna, or two months after getting the Johnson and Johnson vaccine.
"A booster is just a booster. You’re fully immunized after your second mRNA vaccine. You do not need a booster to be considered fully vaccinated."
Rechlin anticipates strong demand for COVID boosters in Montana. The state health department and the CDC urge anyone with questions about getting either a primary or booster COVID shot to consult with their health care provider.
