
MANHATTAN, IL — The annual Manhattan Irish Fest will return to town March 6 and March 7. The fest includes a 5K run, a parade, craft fair, rugby, raffles, games and more. It is $7 for an admission button in advance, or $10 at the door. The tent is located just north of Manhattan Fire Station 81.
The entertainment line-up is:
Friday, March 6
- 5:30 p.m., tent opens
- 6 p.m., "High Wine"
- 8:30 p.m., "Reilly"
Saturday, March 7
- 12 p.m., tent opens
- 12:30 p.m., "Emerald Society Pipe Band"
- 1 p.m., race results and announcements
- 1:30 p.m., Sullivan School of Irish Dance
- 2:15 p.m., "Hatfield Sisters"
- 3:15 p.m., inaugural beard bout
- 3:30 p.m., king, queen and grand marshal
- 3:45 p.m., Hughes Academy of Irish Dance
- 4:30 p.m., "Finbar MaCcarthy"
- 6:15 p.m., "Leadfoot"
- 8 p.m., "Larkin & Moran Brothers"
The 26th Manhattan Irish Fest parade will start at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 7. The Irish Fest Parade 5K also starts with the parade, and runs along the parade route, ending at the main tent. Race participants should park at the Metra station, 15601 W. Sweedler, and take buses to the start line. You can register for the race online.
The Irish Fest carnival will start at 11 a.m. at Manhattan-Elwood Public Library. There will be games, music, crafts and food.
Lastly, a craft fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 7 at Manhattan Junior High.
