NYC Craft Beer Delivery and Coronavirus: Top Breweries Offer Cases and Growlers - Eater NY

Another change due to the COVID-19 shutdown: More breweries and bars are now emphasizing craft beer delivering, offering cult favorite IPAs and easy-drinking cans for home consumption — often by the growler and by the case. It’s not quite a replacement for sitting in the Threes Brewing backyard or getting a tasting of Grimm beers before choosing a glass, but cracking open a beer during the Zoom happy hour can maybe be a little less sad when that beer is a high-quality local pick.

This list is regularly updated. If there’s a favorite missing, email us at tips@eater.com. For those looking to order mixed drinks, see Eater’s updated guide on where to get craft cocktail delivery in New York City.

Alphabet City Beer Co: The East Village’s neighborhood craft beer stop Alphabet City Beer Co. has more than 75 cans of craft beer available on delivery platform Bevv. Beer from many of the local breweries on this list — including Evil Twin, Finback, and Other Half — are all available for pick-up or delivery across the five boroughs.

Covenhoven: In February, this Crown Heights bar known for its staggering selection of canned beer cleared out its bar stools and rebranded as “To-Go-Venhoven,” with a hand-painted banner strung up in its window. The selection here may be a bit narrower than usual, but that’s not saying much for a bar that typically boasts eight full-sized refrigerators of craft beer for sale. Takeout only.

Evil Twin Brewing: Irreverent Ridgewood brewery Evil Twin Brewing is delivering more than 10 different pints of beer, including two new hard seltzers: a kiwi coconut blend and one made from dragonfruit, passionfruit, and marshmallow. The brewery is also selling spicy beef jerky made with Evil Twin Brewing IPA. Delivery available in Brooklyn and Queens.

Finback Brewery: Small-batch brewer Finback is delivering four-pack pints of its IPAs, goses, and imperial stouts. The brewery’s delivery schedule requires a bit of planning ahead, but is well worth the wait. The schedule is as follows and orders need to be placed by 8 p.m. on the previous day: Monday, Upper Manhattan; Tuesday, Long Island City and Astoria; Wednesday, Williamsburg and Greenpoint; Thursday, Lower Manhattan; Friday, Nassau County.

Folksbier Brauerei: Witbiers, double IPAs, and pilsners are all on the delivery menu at Carroll Gardens favorite Folksbier. This local craft brewery may be known for its traditional lagers and ales, but don’t be deceived: Its passion fruit puree and yuzu berry concoctions are just as memorable as its old-school Bavarian lagers. Deliveries are available daily from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Hops Hill: Brooklyn’s Hops Hill is a great option for lovers of hard-to-find craft beers. The delivery menu here includes 10 ciders, 15 cans of beer, and a rotating list of 15 beers on draft available for delivery in 32-ounce “crowlers” (think: can growlers). Thirty-two ounces might seem like a lot of beer — it is — but that’s ideal when the beer list includes sour IPAs from Hudson Valley Brewery and a few options from coveted Vermont brewery Hill Farmstead.

Grimm Brewing: East Williamsburg’s beloved brewer, Grimm, is delivering its award-winning beer through Caviar. Ordering from the online drinks menu can feel a little like being at the brewery itself — sans the free tastings — with four-packs, refillable growlers, and some not-to-be-missed half-liter bottles. Keep tabs on Grimm’s delivery page for new additions, like its summertime Super Swoon, a dry-hopped gose.

KCBC: King’s County Brewer’s Collective, also called KCBC, may be one of Brooklyn’s wildest brewers. Beers here have been given names like the Fast and the Furriest, Robot Fish Simcoe Smash, and Helles Kitchen, while each of the brewer’s tall boys is decorated with some truly impressive graphic novel-style artwork. For delivery, KCBC has a smoked lager, barrel-aged raspberry sour, and several IPAs on deck — including hazy, juicy, and West Coast varieties. If KCBC’s beer isn’t your speed, it’s still worth visiting the brewer’s Caviar page for the tentacles and severed hands alone.

Other Half Brewery: This Carroll Gardens brewery is one of Brooklyn’s most popular. Usually jam-packed on weekends — and sometimes on weeknights — Other Half is now delivering five of its IPAs through Doordash and its online store. If ordering through Other Half directly, the minimum delivery order is one case, which includes six six-packs.

Strong Rope Brewery: Gowanus brewery Strong Rope will be delivering four packs of beer on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. Right now the selection is limited to its Ripe and Ruin IPA and Trophy Cat blonde ale.

Threes Brewing: Airy summertime beer hall Threes Brewing is delivering pints by the four-, 12-, and 24-pack, in addition to a few seasonal bottles of beer. Threes is available for same-day delivery within Brooklyn and parts of Manhattan through Caviar, but the delivery radius for the brewery’s online store includes all of New York state.
