It was a busy few days for the Giants at rookie minicamp. Here is a recap of everything that happened over the weekend.

The Giants concluded their rookie minicamp by signing a pair of free agent…veterans. Running back Corey Clement, who spent the previous four seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles, and wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin, who most recently played in the NFL in 2018, each attended the camp on a tryout basis.

Rookie minicamps traditionally cover the fundamentals in terms of schemes, rules and franchise norms, but for all NFL teams the basics included an added dimension this year: player introductions. With the scouting combine, player visits and in-person interviews canceled because of the pandemic, the Giants were among the teams to get the first up-close looks at their draft choices when minicamps were held this weekend.

After receiving their helmets and jersey numbers the day before, the 2021 rookie class took the field Friday afternoon for the first time as members of the New York Football Giants. With COVID protocols in place, the rookie minicamp roster is comprised of approximately 22 players ranging from draft picks to undrafted free agents and tryouts – a much smaller number than usual. The on-field work emphasizes individual drills, an opportunity last year's class missed due to the pandemic.
