MARSHALL — There’s going to be some extra elbow room between booths, but there will still be plenty to see at the Marshall spring craft fair this weekend, organizers say.
More than 100 vendors are expected to spread out inside and outside the Red Baron Arena and Expo on Saturday.
“With that many vendors, there’s something for everybody,” said Lisa Mauch, one of the fair organizers. “It should be a great show.”
The craft show will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Mauch said. Admission is free.
It’s been an unusual year for planning events like the craft fair. As with many other local events, organizers for the craft fair were left waiting to hear what kind of COVID-19 safety restrictions would be in place.
“We’re still going to have six or seven feet of space between booths,” with some booths outdoors, Mauch said. There will still be face masks, and hand sanitizer stations will be available for visitors, she said. There will be no door prizes for visitors this year to cut down on the amount of contact between people.
But at the same time, news that Minnesota will be gradually easing restrictions this spring and summer was good to hear. Mauch hoped shoppers would be interested in coming back to the fair.
“Now, everyone’s excited to get out,” she said.
Mauch said there’s a different mix of vendors at this year’s fair.
“There’s quite a few new ones,” including some vendors from as far away as Fargo, she said. “The response has been great.”
The new arrivals include an antiques vendor, something Mauch said she didn’t think the craft fair has had before. Another vendor will offer licensed North Dakota State University Bison gear, she said. Vendors will also include some area young people, including area Boy Scouts and one young entrepreneur who will be making and selling “slime,” Mauch said.
As in past years, there will also be concessions sales at the Red Baron Arena, Mauch said.
Craft fair organizers are excited to have people come back out to the event — and Mauch said she hoped area residents felt the same.
“I think people are ready to go out and shop,” she said.
