The American Craft Spirits Association (ASCA) has awarded four silver medals and one bronze medal to Star Union Spirits in its Annual Craft Spirits Competition.

Star Union Spirits' five award-winning spirits in the 2020 ACSA Competition are Barrel Aged Immature Cabernet Sauvignon Brandy, Barrel Aged Grappa, Cherry Brandy Eau De Vie and Immature Cabernet Sauvignon Brandy Eau De Vie which won silver medals. Their Barrel Aged Cherry Brandy won a bronze medal.

The competition is judged by a large panel of national spirit experts on multiple quality issues and data points in a blind tasting format.

Ordinarily, the awards are announced at the competition every year which was scheduled at the end of March but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and announced on March 30.

Star Union Spirits was established by Jeff Yosowitz and Bob Windy as a small craft distillery in the historic Westclox building in Peru. The business opened in November 2018 with Casey Beall joining as a distiller in early 2019.

They'll soon be releasing a Star Union Spirits Apple Brandy, Blue Agave Spirit and American Whiskey in 202 and every bottle purchased help support the business while the tasting room remains closed.

But they remain busy as the company is temporarily producing hand sanitizer to fight against COVID-19 with the first few batches going straight to first responders and healthcare professionals.
