PSG star Dani Alves reveals how Liverpool can help them beat Man Utd in Champions League - Express

PSG go to Old Trafford tonight for the first leg of their last-16 clash with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's in-form side.

They have already faced English opposition after topping a group that contained Liverpool.

The French giants lost the away game at Anfield thanks to a late Roberto Firmino winner, although they clinched top spot with a convincing victory in the reverse fixture on home soil.

And Alves is hoping they can learn from what was a poor performance at Anfield by putting it right at Old Trafford tonight.

"I think we have to learn from the mistakes made during the competition and not reproduce the same mistakes," the Brazilian said.

"There are few games in the Champions League, so there is little room for error.

"We have to capitalise on what we do well because we have great ambitions in this competition.

"We need to raise our level of performance, concentration, raise our level in duels, but I know we can do it, and we will do it.

"It will not be easy, of course, they will not give us presents. We will have to race each other to clinch the qualification.

"We started with a rather negative result at Anfield, and then we raised our level in the competition when we had to show everyone our ability and strength.

"In the second leg against Liverpool, we responded. When we had to win, we went to get the result. We got the qualification and the first place of the group.

"It's certainly an advantage (playing at home second), but first and foremost you have to focus on the first leg."

While Alves is pleased to be playing the first leg away from home, Thomas Tuchel's side go into the tie with huge injury problems.

Both Neymar and Edinson Cavani are ruled out with injury so Kylian Mbappe could be supported by former United winger Angel Di Maria and ex-Stoke forward Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting in attack.

Meanwhile, Solskjaer's side go into the clash in excellent form with 10 wins and one draw in his 11 games since taking over from Jose Mourinho as manager.

The Norwegian, though, says whatever team Tuchel puts out will be tough and he insists he will be taking nothing for granted against a side who are among of the favourites to win the competition.

"Of course any team that is missing players like Neymar, Cavani and Meunier will feel the effect," he said.

"But it gives other players a chance and maybe they are more unpredictable for us with who they are going to play.

"When you've seen that front three for the whole season you know what to expect but this time around we're guessing a little bit."
